More and more start-up businesses are basing themselves in the London area, the travel links, the business facilities and the need to be seen in the right place is driving a huge surge in office spaces in the EC area.
Office space search engine, Office Genie has recently carried out a survey that shows “searches for desk space in the capital are up more than a third (36%) last year compared to 2013.”
Cost of office space in London
Being in the vibrant, versatile and business hub of the UK comes at a price, start-ups and SMEs are paying the price to be based in the capital, with the average cost of desk space 129% above the UK average. On a monthly basis businesses are paying an average of £512 per desk for serviced office space in London, compared to the UK average of £224.
Lack of office space in City of London
With so many businesses moving into the area, Office Geni reckons there is a danger that businesses will struggle to find suitable office space in the capital. As a result many businesses are looking outside the typical City areas to find better value office space. We are seeing more businesses spill over into Shoreditch and other East London areas close to the city.
